The new bridge is a 85 foot clear span steel truss structure with a concrete deck. Removing the center pier of the old bridge allows the natural flow pattern to be uninhibited and eliminates debris and silt buildup in the middle of the stream. The new bridge also sits higher above the water at normal depths which provides for better passage beneath the bridge for those enjoying kayaking and fishing in the Little Lehigh.
