Hampton Winds is the training ground for Northampton’s highly regarded Culinary Arts Program where students learn to cook and run the restaurant under the guidance of skilled executive chefs. Northampton Community College took advantage of the pandemic shutdown to renovate and expand their commercial kitchen while the restaurant was closed to the public. The project scope included mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades along with the new installation of fiberglass reinforced panels. Flooring adjustments were made to accommodate the new kitchen equipment.
During this renovation, a section of the kitchen remained active for student learning and food preparation for takeout. Temporary protection was set up between the construction and food preparation areas to ensure safety and cleanliness.
